I finally made my dream come true and rented an apartment in Rome for a month.
I had enough time to explore the city slowly and carefuly. I could enjoy it’s art and architecture, eat the delicious dishes and meet local people.
And of course I painted as well.
I followed the footsteps of many artists who for centuries came to Rome to become better at their craft.
Besides these two lively oil paintings about which I’m very happy I also filled a sketchbook and made bunch of watercolors.
The first one depicts a park in Villa Sciaria at warm late afternoon light.
The second a well known cemetery nearby the Pyramid of Caius Cestius.
Doing this trip was a profound experience. Seeing the masterpieces you learned about in art history classes with your own eyes changes the game.
Sincerely,
Tomas
