This November, Tomas Honz will exhibit ‘NOC’; his series of nocturnal landscape paintings.
Come and join us for the opening, taking place 4 November at Via Art Gallery. We are starting at 18:00. (facebook event)
Even the most familiar of things can change in the twilight. An ordinary tree becomes a crooked, twisted monster. In the darkness of pine forests, there is a pair of invisible eyes. The beam from the head-torch is a source of a mysterious glare, showing us an entirely new world. One that is hidden in the Czech landscapes; explored by artist Tomas Honz, through the medium of classical painting.
Whilst Honz’ series is contemporary, it also mirrors the tradition of Czech landscape painting. His smaller pieces were painted plein air, whereas larger works were produced in the studio following preliminary sketches. In December, this exhibition will be followed by one exploring subject matters of silence and secrecy within the context of local natural sites.
