An Etruscan Tomb

Oil on canvas

I thoroughly enjoyed exploring Etruscan tombs. This one was a bit out of the way, but I wasn’t alone after all. About halfway through the painting session, a local gentleman came and brought two long wooden flutes. He said that he goes to this tomb every morning to play because it has good acoustics. And if I don’t mind he would play now too. So I ended up painting while slow ancient tunes were resonating from a 2,500-year-old tomb.
